About Me

Although this blog started as a class assignment, I’ve grown to immensely enjoy writing about health and wellness. Formerly known as The Perfect Mason, I’ll continue to write about all things health and wellness, with the occasional post about life as I know it.

Fun fact about my site’s new name: I’m the fourth generation to inherit the middle name Eileen.

I’m a recent Simpson College graduate with a B.A. in Public Relations (plus minors in Spanish, Management and Human Resources), living a curious life in Des Moines, IA.

I’m engaged to an Army veteran, named Chris, who served 9 months as an infantryman in Ghazni, Afghanistan before we met at Simpson College in 2014. He grew up in Las Vegas so we’re blessed to have family both in the desert and the Midwest.

In 2017 I served as a communications intern for a locally-based national non-profit called Yogashield: Yoga For First Responders, whose mission and vision I support wholeheartedly.

For the first half of 2018 I held a marketing communications internship position for an international organization dedicated to food safety- Eurofins Scientific Inc. At Eurofins I gained incredibly valuable marketing experience and some truly awesome friends.

Some goals (big and small) I’ve set for myself are:

  • Impact the world around me through my work as a writer and digital content creator
  • Learn how to create and maintain websites (starting with my own)
  • Visit as many U.S. national parks as I can
  • Find and learn how to cook amazing vegan meals
  • Get back into running
  • Become a yogi
  • Enjoy every bit of today because mindfulness is everything

In my free time, I enjoy reading Faye Kellerman’s Decker/Lazarus novels, gardening, being outside, yoga, spending time with friends and family, writing, and listening to these motivating podcasts:

Thank you for visiting my site, leave me a comment to tell me more about yourself!

Until next time,
